Choosing a Shannon Down Dairy Goat
We enjoy talking with you about what you are looking for. We strive to fit the right animal with the right home so be sure to let us know what you are searching for and what improvements you'd like to see in kids from your Winning Streak dairy goat. Herd health and proper management is very important to us. All kids sold will be disbudded and tattooed (if old/big enough - typically no younger than 4 weeks). Any apparent coccidiosis will be treated with Toltrazuril or Sulfadimethoxine. From time to time, older bucks and does may also be available for sale so please contact us if you are interested in an animal of any age.
Reserving Your Shannon Down Kid
To reserve the option to purchase a Shannon Down kid, a $100 deposit is required with remaining balance due within 14 days of notification of birth. If your choice of kid is not available or if the animal does not meet our standards of quality, we will gladly transfer your deposit to another kid if that is your desire, or you may keep the same reservation to roll over into the next years kidding. If a doe dies and still has outstanding reservations, those holding the reservations have the option to transfer their reservation to another doe’s available one, or apply their deposit to a farm credit to be used on future animals.
ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. If for any reason a sale is canceled, no monies will be refunded. Prices are subject to change at our discretion (and likely will as a doe ages, shows, milks, and LA’s), however if we do increase a price, we try to make sure it is competed before the doe is bred for her next freshening. We will never do a change last minute. Prices quoted are for reserved kids picked up or shipped between 3 to 6 weeks of age. We do not guarantee these prices for animals ordered after birth. As the breeder/owner of these animals, we do reserve the right to keep any animal born. Please note that Nigerians are a colored breed and we cannot guarantee that kids born will be a certain color. Kids rejected by buyer due to color/eye color/wattles is considered a cancelled order.
What if I place multiple reservations and not all of them are filled?
If you place multiple reservations and not all of them are filled, you have the option to:
A) Keep your unfilled reservations to roll over into the following kidding.
OR
B) Put the money from the unfilled reservations to the overall cost of the filled reservations.
Deposits and Payment
Prices quoted are for animals picked up/shipped off at the farm. We generally accept 2 buck kid reservations and 1 doe kid reservation from each dam per year. Deposits on live and mature animals will hold that animal until pick-up within 14 days. Sending a deposit is your guarantee that you will buy that animal at the agreed upon price quoted within this timeframe specified. Deposits on live animals offered for sale are accepted at the rate of 50% of the animals total purchase price. Once a deposit is placed on a live animal, the goat must be picked up or shipped and out of my possession by 2 weeks or the animal may be offered for sale again or a boarding fee assessed at the rate of $30/week. Deposits can be transferred to another animal, but all monies paid on cancelled orders are not refunded. Cash, checks, money orders, PayPal, Zelle, and Venmo are accepted. I will hold registration papers until personal checks clear the bank. Buyer is responsible for any and all bank fees assessed for bad checks. Buyer is responsible for all health certificates, veterinary exams, blood tests, shipping, crate, and
other costs associated with veterinary fees and shipment.
Please make checks or money orders out to:

We do accept PayPal payments at shandwnwhippet@aim.com but be aware that buyer is responsible for all PayPal transaction fees. Please include appropriate fees in your transaction at the time of the transaction. You can also send the Paypal funds as a "personal gift" or “Friends and Family” and fees are not assessed. Please indicate what the payment is for and include contact information if sending money from an unfamiliar name/email address.
Taking Your Kid Home
Although we encourage you to pick your kid up at the farm so that you may view related animals, this must be done by appointment only because of our work and time commitments. We realize this may not always be possible so limited delivery can be arranged to the local shows and events we attend, with or without additional costs. Let us know your needs well ahead of time so we can make the necessary airline arrangements to ship your new kid to you out of the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport. All shipping costs, including individual cost of kid, Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and any related testing needed, shipping crate and shipping fees are to be paid in full by the buyer prior to time of shipping. We will provide ADGA registration papers for any kid purchased by an ADGA member.
Buyer may:
1) send us your clean airline approved crate that is the correct size for your kid/s to be received at least one week prior to the anticipated ship date,
2) send us funds so a new crate can be purchased, at cost, for us to ship your kid/s to you (you keep the crate)
Bucks
Please know that we do not keep just any buck that is born. Our standards are high for a reason. Due to time and work commitments, please understand that we do not like to keep "extra" buck kids around once show season is in full swing, so please consider placing a reservation and/or contacting us early. Buck kids are only conditionally, and very rarely available from first fresheners. Before a buck kid from a first freshener is sold as a breeding buck, his dam must be evaluated in milk for a minimum of 3 to 6 weeks. We ask that you view several daughters in milk before any Winning Streak buck's semen is marketed to the public. We reserve the right to obtain 20 straws of semen from any buck we sell at the cost of collection.
Success of Sold Animals
We do not make any guaranties on the success of animals that we sell. After they leave our care it is up to the new owner to raise and maintain that animal. We are not responsible for the success of animals we sell, rather that is up to the owner to accomplish. After all, herd management is half of the key to maintaining competitive animals. We are always willing to offer advice and to assist in any way we can in order to assure the wellbeing of that animal.
As the breeder/owner of these animals, we do reserve the right to keep any animal born, or withdraw from sale an animal that does not meet our quality standards.
Thank you for your interest and we hope to hear from you soon!
